Note to Parents/Guardians: Welcome Back! I am excited to be your child's teacher and look forward to meeting you! In order to ensure a smooth school year, please check your child's planner daily for notes home, school correspondence and assigned daily homework. Daily Math and Language Arts assignments and homework are individualized and noted in each student's planner. Also, please feel free to call me at 815-744-6166, extension 2507, email ivelasco@d88a.org or leave a note in your child's planner. I will respond at the earliest possible time.

Current Social Studies Unit - 1st Quarter                                                       
Students will be instructed in their grade levels, with appropriate individualized modifications/accommodations for each student.
www.sheppardsoftware.com is an excellent resource for reinforcing geography skills. Students can play games and view tutorials on US Presidents, US Government and USA Map skills.

Current Science Unit - 1st Quarter
Students will be instructed in their grade levels, with appropriate individualized modifications/accommodations for each student.

Current Mathematics Unit - 1st Quarter
Students are instructed in a small group with a modified/adapted curriculum. 
-Daily math fluency drills using MobyMax's online Math Fluency program
-Progress monitoring of Math skills at each student's instructional level using the Iready Math program will occur monthly. These individual results will be presented during the student's IEP meeting.
-Remediation of skills:Students complete modules that deliver 10-45 minute lessons with an instructional design that builds conceptual understanding. Each student has their own personal ID and username to complete these individualized modules.
IReady Math Remediation Program includes a technology based adaptive diagnostic and growth monitoring component. Online lessons are adapted and personalized based on student needs. Progress monitoring of Math skills occurs monthly. This program complements and correlates with the Common Core Math program we currently use.

Current Language Arts Unit - 1st Quarter

Lesson 4 - Google programs, maximizing use of the chromebooks, 4th quarter

Note: We are fortunate to have chromebooks and 2 ipads available for our students during all of our classes. Technology is integrated into our lessons.

Students can sharpen Social Studies, Science, Math and Language Arts skills while engaging in "fun" activities. Everyone has access to this website.
