English Learner (EL) Program

All new students registering for District 64 are required by state law to complete a Home Language Survey. The survey can be found on the registration page of District 64's website.

Answering “yes” to one or both of the following questions requires District 64 to assess your child’s English language proficiency:

• Is a language other than English spoken in your home?
• Does your child speak a language other than English?

If the student qualifies for the Transitional Program of Instruction (TPI/EL) program, services will be provided based on the individual needs. Students' English language proficiency will be assessed with the state mandated ACCESS test annually until exit criteria is met.
