What could be more fun than spending some time with Judy and Cindy? The summer tech sessions will run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 8:30AM and 1:00PM at Niles North with two hour workshops followed by an hour lab time.

As always, we are flexible. If there is a topic that interests you but you are not available during the date/time it is offered, call us to schedule one-on-one training.

Google Classroom

Ready to put your classes online? Google Classroom is a platform that allows you to streamline and organize assignments, materials and resources with your students. In this course, you will create an account, learn basic functionality, and begin preparing your 2018-2019 Google Classrooms. If you are a current Classroom user, we will review end of year clean up options to avoid clutter and get ready for August. Additionally, we will explore how different apps integrate with Classroom, including EdPuzzle, Quizziz and Google Forms, along with other advanced features of Classroom. Objective: Participants will develop or update a current Google Classroom to build a complete and robust digital classroom presence.

Google Sites

Is your teacher website ready for an overhaul? If you haven’t converted your Google site to the new version, now is the time. This workshop will help you modernize this important classroom resource to better complement your course, classroom management, and workflow goals. Objective: Participants will convert existing teacher site to build a complete and robust digital classroom presence.

Add-ons & Chrome Extensions

Have you wondered about those tiny icons on your Chrome browser? These Chrome extensions provide added functionality by connecting your browser to other web utilities that can keep you, your classroom, and your students organized, functioning, and productive. Add functionality to docs, sheets, slides and forms using Add-ons. From Mail merge to a QR Code generator to changing case and merging cells in Sheets, Add-ons will greatly enhance your Google experience. Objective: Participants will explore multiple Add-ons & extensions and select two to explore in depth and find opportunities to incorporate into projects.

Increasing Google Productivity

If you haven’t gone Google yet, this session will give you a better grasp of the Google Apps for Education Suite (GAFE). This course is aimed at users who want to better understand the variety of Google Apps, how to maximize their potential and better leverage their interoperability. The Productivity Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Calendar, GMail) will be covered, as well as others like Draw, Forms, Keep, and Meet. Objectives: Learn to work more efficiently with Google Apps, become familiar with lesser known tools, and other topics as interest directs.

Google Educator Level 1

Earn your Google Educator Level 1 Certification. We will provide all the resources and support you need to complete the certification. You can work face to face over the course of a few weeks, in a hybrid model - dropping in on the sessions you feel you need support, or remotely and utilize the resources online. Objective: Participants will participate in whichever format best suits their needs and become a Google Level Educator.

Mastery Manager

Wednesdays!

Quickly create answer key assessments using your existing tests, or develop question bank assessments. Save paper and put those chromebooks to use by giving your tests online. Use the secure browser feature to prevent cheating, and since it’s online, students receive instant feedback. No scanning required! Mastery Manager reports provide student data throughout school years and offer longitudinal analysis on student performance. The Certica Navigate Item bank is also available to District 219. This is a dynamic item bank containing over 89,000 questions, each aligned to standards and specific attributes, including grade level. Objective: Participants will learn how to use the Certica’s Navigate Item Bank, explore the different question types, run reports, and develop an assessment for online delivery.

Teaching with

a Laptop


This session will familiarize teachers with using a laptop in the classroom as we move from hardwired teacher workstations at the front of the classroom to laptops that allow mobility. We will begin in the PDC, going over the basics and then transition to a classroom to provide the opportunity to work in a classroom environment.Objectives: Learn to work with a laptop docking station, projector, changing sound sources, wireless projecting, work in tablet mode, annotating / inking, and other topics as interest directs.

Extreme Digital Makeover

This session is aimed at individual teachers or teams of teachers who want to increase the tools in their digital tool box. Explore new digital tools to enhance current lessons / activities. In order to maximize the use of time, it is suggested that participants either submit an assignment ahead of time or have one prepared to work with. Objectives: Transform a lesson to use digital tools that will increase student engagement and leverage technologies that will provide new learning experiences.
