Open Educational Resources are teaching and learning materials that you may freely use and reuse, without charge. OER often have a Creative Commons or GNU license that state specifically how the material may be used, reused, adapted, and shared. Open educational resources include:
- Learning content: full courses, course materials, content modules, learning objects, collections, and journals.
- Tools: Software to support the creation, delivery, use and improvement of open learning content including searching and organization of content, content and learning management systems, content development tools, and on-line learning communities.
- Implementation resources: Intellectual property licenses to promote open publishing of materials, design-principles, and localization of content.

CK12.org - FlexBooks are free, easy to update and easy to customize. With FlexBooks, you can customize your textbooks to support your innovative work in the classroom.
OpenStax CNX - View and share educational material made of small knowledge chunks called modules that can be organized as courses, books, reports, etc. Anyone may view or contribute.

National Repository of Online Courses - A growing library of high-quality online course content for students and faculty in higher education, high school and Advanced Placement.
NCLOR - The North Carolina Learning Object Repository (NCLOR) collects documents, audio/video clips, simulations, learning modules, assessments, – virtually any type of learning resource that can be digitized and processed.
OpenCourseWare Consortium - A collaboration of higher education institutions and associated organizations from around the world creating a broad and deep body of open educational content using a shared model.
OER Commons - As a network for teaching and learning materials, the web site offers engagement with resources in the form of social bookmarking, tagging, rating, and reviewing.
Open Course Library - a repository of course modules that anyone can download, customize and use for free. The first phase involves the publishing and open licensing of 42 introductory courses (of an expected 81), none of which compels students to purchase more than $30 of additional course content.
