Larissa is originally from Niles, Illinois and is a graduate of Maine East High School where she participated in gymnastics, band, flag corps, theatre, orchesis, and varsity cheerleading. She then went to Illinois State University and earned a Bachelo
r’s in Elementary Education. Directly after graduation, she worked in Glenview as a teacher’s aide for one year, followed by the Chicago Public Schools for five years as a middle school teacher. She went on to DePaul University for graduate school to earn her Master’s in Human Services and Counseling. She interned at Niles West High School for one year, and secured her first counseling position at Lincoln Way High School in New Lenox, Illinois. She has been a counselor at Niles North since 1996. She is married with four children and her hobbies include reading, traveling, and health and fitness. She is an active volunteer in her community and considers bargain shopping a sport. She has been a member of IACAC for the past 15 years and continues to take graduate level courses annually to keep her professional knowledge current. In the fall of 2013, Larissa earned her National Board Certification.
