Your research essay is due on Thursday, Feb. 16. As usual, submit it via turnitin.com. Also, as usual, I need a hard copy from you.
The week of February 14 we will watch a film version of Shakespeare's comedy Much Ado About Nothing. You should take notes on the characters. I will collect these notes from you.
For Wednesday, February 22: Read pp.1-76 in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. Be ready for a quiz.
Friday, February 24: Quiz on pp. 76-155.
Tuesday, February 28: Two mini-essays on Curious Incident (up through p. 155) are due. In each typed paragraph you must:
--state your claim
--elaborate on your claim or explain it
--introduce your evidence
--present at least three specific examples as evidence (tell stories)
--quote the text at least three times
--explain clearly how each piece of evidence supports your claim
--restate your claim
Also, submit both paragraphs as one document on turnitin.com. Print the receipt and hand it in with; your paragraphs.
Here are your possible topics or questions for these paragraphs:
1. Describe Christopher so far.
2. Describe one memorable scene. Explain why it is notable. (Note: you won't need three examples here, but do quote the text at least three times.)
3. Respond to one of his ideas. First summarize it. And quote Christopher. Your evidence in this paragraph should be your examples that support your response to to his idea. So you don't need three pieces of evidence from the novel.
4. Is this book humorous so far?
