For Tuesday, March 21: Be ready for a quiz on Chapters 9-15 (excluding Chapter 11)
For Thursday, March 23: Be ready for a quiz on Chapters 16-20.
For Thursday, April 6: Get a copy of Twelfth Night. (See note below.)
Dorian Gray essays are due on Monday, April 10.
After we finish Dorian Gray, we will read Shakespeare's comedy Twelfth Night. It is important that we all read the same edition. The textbook center does not have copies of this play, so here are your options:
1. Buy a hard copy of the Folger edition.
2. Check out a copy of the Folger edition from a library.
3. Buy the electronic version of the Folger edition on the Folger website. Go to Folger Shakespeare digital texts.
4. Read the free electronic version on the Folger website. (Note that this edition does not have the helpful commentary on left-hand page.)
You will be asked to read some of the text out of class, so the commentary and explanations could be helpful, but I will gloss some important words and phrases for those students who do not have the commentaries. I will also explain all this in class.
