IDCA Novice/JV State Debate Tournament

Judging

There will be two judges in every Novice preliminary round, and only one judge in every JV preliminary round. Each school is responsible for providing one judge for every team entered in the Novice division and one judge for every two teams entered int he JV division. Novice judges must have at least two years of debate experience and by at least a Junior. JV judges must be adults. Judges are committed through the round after their last team is eliminated. Student judges will also be expected to run ballots when needed.

General Information

Each side will have eight minutes of preparation time. We utilize the 8-3-5 format. Debaters will be debating the proposition: "Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its economic and/or diplomatic engagement with the People’s Republic of China."
