Jason Rush - Head Girls’ Track Coach: This is Coach Rush’s 5th year at the helm of the VHHS Girl’s Track & Field program. Under Coaches Brzezinski, Clifford, Rush and Wolf the VHHS Girls T&F team has won two Prairie Division Championships, two IHSA Sectional Championships, and 9 all-state performances in the past three years. Coach Rush ran cross country, track and swam at Stagg HS in Palos Hills, IL and competed at Loyola University of Chicago as a distance runner. He coached cross-country and track at Ridgewood HS for six years before becoming a VHHS Cougar. Coach Rush is a member of the science department, teaching physics, physical science, and AP Physics. In his spare time he enjoys outdoor activities and traveling with his family, running, and creating parody songs about science that he can play on his guitar.
Katie Brzezinski – Assistant Girls’ Track Coach: Coach Brzezinski, a graduate of Concordia University, is a former student and track athlete of Coach Rush at Ridgewood High School in Norridge, IL. She was the Valedictorian of her class, a 3-sport athlete, and a state qualifier in the 400m dash. In College, Coach Brzezinski competed on Concordia's Track & Field Team. There she was the 100m & 200m Tri-State Conference Champion and a member of the Conference Champion 4x100 & 4x400 relay teams. After tearing her ACL, she became the assistant Track and Cross Country coach at Ridgewood High School. There she coached numerous athletes to all-conference and state qualifying performance. This is Coach Brzezinski’s 5th year assisting sprints. In her 5 years she’s qualified 9 relays to the state meet; 3 of which were all-state. In her spare time Coach Brzezinski loves to spend time with her husband, Ben, and two little boys, Jacob and Ryan.
Matt Clifford – Assistant Girls’ Track Coach: Coach Clifford graduated from Canton High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History Education from Illinois State University, a Master’s degree in History from Illinois State University, and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University. This is Coach Clifford’s fifth year as the throws coach with the Vernon Hills Girls’ Track Team. Coach Clifford is a member of the Social Studies Department at Vernon Hills High School teaching World History, AP European History, Current Issues, and International Studies.
Chris Wolf – Assistant Girls’ Track Coach: This is Chris’s 7th year teaching and coaching at VHHS. His previous experience includes running cross country at Downers Grove North High School for 4 years and serving as captain during his senior year. After high school Coach Wolf has continued to run various road races and during his senior year of college he successfully completed his first triathlon. A graduate of the University of Illinois, he teaches in the science department and spends his free time outside running, biking, and spending time with friends and family. This past summer he and his wife, Lisa, celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary. In January of 2013, Chris and Lisa celebrated the birth of their first child, Kylie. The Wolf family reside in Grayslake. Coach Wolf is looking forward to his 5th season as the girls distance coach.
Mike Bunning - Volunteer Girls Track Coach: This is Coach Bunning’s second season working with the Boys’ and Girls’ pole vaulters. Coach Bunning was a three sport athlete at Glenbard South High School prior to attending Cornell University where he pole vaulted for four years. In his free time Coach Bunning enjoys spending time with his wife Chris and attending the various activities of his 3 daughters.
