Head Varsity Coach- Greg Loika
2016 is Coach Loika's 8th as the girls head coach at Libertyville High School- 10th year with the Girls Volleyball Program in total. Coach Loika was an assistant in 2007 when the Wildcats finished 4th at the State Finals, and the 2012 squad he coached also earned a trophy finishing 4th with a record of 34-8. 2014 was a banner year with the Cats earning the second place trophy in class 4A, going 35-7. His career record is 217-54. Coach Loika serves as a social worker at LHS. He lives in Libertyville with wife Jenny (math teacher at LHS) daughter Charlee and adopted greyhound Bailey.
Asst. Varsity Coach- Jenny Smith
This will be Jenny Smith's 7th year coaching at Libertyville high school in the girls program, 3rd as the Boys Volleyball Head Coach. Previously, Jenny was coaching boys volleyball at Vernon Hills high school, women's volleyball at Elgin Community College, and Girls VBC. She played volleyball and ran track 4 years at Carthage College. Recently Jenny and her husband Tony opened a natural pet food market in downtown Libertyville (Bentley's Corner Barkery) which specializes in nutrition for pets.
JV Coach- Adam Stuart
Coach Stuart has been working at Libertyville High School since 2010. Prior to joining the LHS staff, he was an Assistant Varisty VB and Basketball Coach at Palatine. After two years at Baylor, he transferred to Carthage College to play basketball and volleyball. At Carthage, his volleyball team played in the national championship game finishing second in Div III. Coach Stuart graduated from Carthage in May, 2009 with a B.A. in Exercise and Sport Science and a minor in Education. Coach Stuart works in the Physical Welfare Department at LHS. He and wife Erica just had their first child and Newest Wildcat Superfan (AJ) on December 10, 2013.
Sophomore Coach- Katti Bachar
Coach Bachar has been coaching girls volleyball at LHS since 2011, she also joined the girls softball program as the assistant varsity coach in 2012. Last year her girls won the Buffalo Grove tournament and placed second in the LHS invite as well as the Barrington Invite. Coach Bachar currently works in the science department teaching chemistry. She is looking forward to another great season this Fall.
Sophomore Coach- Loretta O'Dea
Coach O'dea has been coaching girls volleyball at LHS since 2011, she also joined the boys program in 2014 as a Freshmen coach. Last year, her Girls B team won both the Warren tournament and the LHS Freshmen invite and ended the season with a 26-1 record. Coach O'Dea currently works in the both the Business and Family Consumer Science departments as a Teacher and is the head FBLA advisor. She is looking forward to another great season this Fall.
Freshman A Coach- Jorge Tamayo
Coach Tamayo went to Evanston Township H.S. were he played as an outside hitter for coach Mike Hulett, the director at Adversity Club Volleyball, based out of Vernon Hills. Coach Tamayo had never played before his freshman year, but fell in love with the sport and began to play year round. Coach Tamayo began playing at the varsity level his sophomore year and was voted captain as a senior. After high school, he attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where he went on to play for the club team as well as intramurals. Coach Tamayo started coaching in 2005 and has coached for both club and high school seasons, boys and girls, from beginners to high level athletes that compete on a national level.
