Coach Matthews has been a resident of Libertyville his entire life and loves living in this community. He graduated from LHS in 1981. Coach Matthews received his BA from Carthage College where he lettered in basketball, tennis and golf and received his Master's in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University. He is the Lead teacher in the driver education department and has been coaching at LHS for the past 26 years. Coach Matthews is married to Lisa, another 1981 LHS graduate and they have 2 children that graduated from LHS, Ellis 2012 and Sloane 2013. Coach Matthews’ parents were also LHS graduates, Bob 1949 and Janet 1951.
Coach Goodwin is currently in his 29th year of teaching at Libertyville High School. He began teaching math at LHS in 1986. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University, along with a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from National-Louis University. Coach Goodwin has been a part of LHS athletics for 29 years, coaching a number of sports including boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ soccer, boys’ and boys'tennis. Coach Goodwin believes that “Sports are a great opportunity for athletes to learn how to work hard, play together as a team, and stay positive. These are invaluable life-lessons to help them prepare for the future.”
