I hold a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Minnesota, a master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth, and a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Family Studies, with a concentration in Parent Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth. I have worked in post-secondary education for 17 years. During the past 12 years, I have taught at the University of Minnesota Duluth, where I am an Associate Professor in the Education Department and Program Coordinator of the Early Childhood Studies Program. My research agenda is focused on maternal care, early brain development, emotional development, and attachment. I have created courses, lectures, presentations, and community programs designed to support both a scholarly and community-based understanding of the impact the early years have on life-long health and well-being. I have spoken to audiences about my passion for children and families and shared my research results to national as well as international audience |
