About the Center

The Center for Ethics and Public Policy promotes discussion and understanding of ethics and policy issues. The center fulfills its mission primarily through organizing public programs. The programs aim to be balanced and represent a diversity of views, especially through panel discussions involving the UMD and regional community.

Undergraduate Scholar Program

The Center for Ethics and Public Policy is pleased to announce the creation of new Undergraduate Scholar Program.

Once accepted into the program, students will have special access to Center speakers, be offered career advisement and counsel, provided with assistance in research, and (when funding is available) have the opportunity to be awarded financial assistance to offset the costs associated with scholarly development.

We welcome applications from all UMD students. To apply to become a Center Scholar, please submit a personal statement explaining your interest in becoming a fellow; your academic background, extracurricular activities, and work experience.

Your personal statement should be submitted by email to scourtla@d.umn.edu. The committee considers applications on a rolling basis.

Help Support the Center

The majority of the Center’s funding comes from outside sources. Our success depends on the support of foundations and private individuals who share the Center’s commitment to elevating civic discourse and encouraging advanced political participation.

Your donations will be used to pay for: (1) facilities; (2) video and microphone services; (3) speaker fees; (4) advertising; (5) support for student research and career development.
