Our Community Development division develops and maintains affordable housing and community facilities and also works on making Cypress Hills a greener, more affordable neighborhood.
Please Note: The waiting list for our current, existing affordable housing units is closed and will reopen in late 2014. We are not accepting applications for our existing units at this time.
Current Housing Projects
Started in 2010, the goal of our Verde progam is to make the community a greener, healthier, more sustainable place to live for all of its residents. We envision a livable community with permanently affordable housing, energy efficient homes, businesses, and churches, safe and efficient transportation, access to nutritious, affordable food, and pathways to sustainable, living wage jobs.
We are working towards this vision through energy efficiency retrofits and weatherization of local homes and LDC-owned properties, tree planting in streets and private yards, expanding gardens and open space in the neighborhood, improving food access through new gardens, grocery stores and farmers’ markets, conducting a neighborhood-wide planning process to redevelop vacant and underused lots into affordable housing, community centers, stores, parks, and gardens, plus many more projects in the works!
