ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The present training programme is organised at CWRDM under the aegis of the ongoing project on Stable Isotope Facility for Research in Basic and Applied sciences funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Faculties/ Resource persons for this course will be drawn from Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi; Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai; Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmadabad; National Geo-physical Research Institute (NGRI), Hyderabad and CWRDM, Kozhikode.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

*  Creating awareness among the participants and familiarise them with the emerging field of Isotope Hydrology and its applications

*       Apprising the participants on the status of Isotope Hydrology in the country and their future applications

*       Providing a forum for interaction among scientists, practising engineers and isotope specialists

*     Enabling the scientists, practising engineers and hydrologists to identify possible field and laboratory applications of isotope techniques in their respective areas of activity

COURSE CONTENT

The programme will have lectures and discussions on topics like basic concepts of isotopes, isotope systematics and application of stable and radioactive isotopes in surface and subsurface hydrological studies. Case studies include stream flow measurements, seepage loss estimation in canals, lake dynamics, interconnection between water bodies and water balance studies; occurrence and groundwater recharge mechanisms, pollutant source identification etc., In addition to this, instrumentation and analytical techniques related to the topics with field demonstrations and practical training will form part of the curriculum.

REGISTRATION, TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION
