The Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra (CVSO) will be touring local elementary schools this month in an educational outreach program. Musicians of the CVSO will be educating students on the classical aspect of music, as well as introducing the youth to traditional instruments one would find in a symphonic setting.
Bill Simon, local educator and successful arranger/composer, has been a part of educational outreach programs in the past. “The elementary visits are a wonderful opportunity for the CVSO musicians to give back to the community,” Simon continued, “The students are fantastic and have insightful questions about music and about what it's like to be a part of an orchestra.”
These educational outreach efforts are in conjunction with an upcoming concert sponsored by Kristo Orthodontics that will feature the CVSO’s Young Artist Competition winner, Yaoyao Chen from Menasha, WI. The CVSO will also be collaborating with the Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony (CVYS) this concert. Tony Zammit, executive director of the CVSO, said, “We are enthusiastic at the opportunity to perform with the CVYS, who have a growing talent and passion for music,” Zammit stated, “This concert will be an impressive showcase of the Chippewa Valley’s artistic youth.”
