Growth Mindset

This year, we will be focusing on what it means to have a Growth Mindset. As children and even adults, we are faced with challenges in our daily lives. Having a Growth Mindset fosters a positive, "Can Do" attitude in students that will help them grow both inside and outside of school. You can help foster a Growth Mindset by asking your child what goals he/she can set for the next month or even for the school year (ie: tying shoes, memorizing addition facts up to 20, etc...). Discuss what would be needed in order to reach those goals :) Throughout the course of the year, we will be focusing on how to:

1. Embrace challenges
2. Learn from mistakes
3. Set goals and how to reach them
4. Make positive choices

Examples of Fixed Mindset vs. Growth Mindset :
*I made a mistake vs. What can I learn from this?
*I can't do it vs. I'm going to try my best
*This is too difficult vs. With hard work, I'll learn to do it over time
*This is good enough vs. Did I do my best work?
