Welcome

Dear Room 15 Families,

I am thrilled to be your child's teacher, and cannot wait to get started. Teaching is a joy for me and I look forward to each day in the classroom. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your family's lives. Although first grade is an integral stepping stone between preschool and the upper elementary grades, it is important to remember that school should be fun, engaging and full of adventure. Of course, I plan to ensure that your little one will be fully prepared for the academic challenges that are coming up, but I am also dedicated to creating a peaceful, loving and exciting classroom family that will create life long learners as well as foster a community spirit. Our children are learning how to live in this world. Help me to teach and model to them that a loving heart, a strong mind, and a kind and empathetic disposition are attributes that are important and valued within our community.

I believe that each child learns uniquely, and that is why it is important to me to present new information in a variety of engaging, hands-on ways, to allow for all learners to grow at their own pace. Our classroom may seem chaotic at times, but it is a highly organized and thoughtful room in which students learn how to be collaborative, caring, and independent learners. My approach to teaching is designed to take advantage of the diversity and strengths of all of the children. I strive to give every child the opportunity to find success on his or her own path of growth. I look forward to creating a room full of learners, teachers, artists, mathematicians, scientists, writers and philosophers!

My priority is your child and I know that with your support at home we will have a wonderful year!

With Love,

Erin
