Clay Smith is in his second year as Assistant Athletic Director at CHS. In addition to his Athletic Director duties, he also teaches physical education, and serves as the Lady Kahoks Varsity Girls Soccer Coach. Coach Smith is entering his fifth year as the varsity girls soccer coach. In his first four seasons, he has lead the Kahoks to a 64-22-6 record. He has won four straight conference championships, three regional, and two sectional championships. Coach Smith was voted Coach of the Year by the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association in 2014 for Illinois Class 3a schools. The Belleville News Democrat also voted him Coach of the Year honors in back to back years in 2012 and 2013.
Coach Smith is a 1995 graduate of Collinsville High School. While attending CHS, he was a three sport athlete playing soccer, basketball, and baseball. Upon graduation, Coach Smith continued his education at Mckendree University. While at McKendree, he earned degrees in athletic training, and kinesiology/health. He earned his Masters Degree in Sports Management from SIUE in 2006, and earned his second Masters Degree in Education Administration from McKendree University in 2010.
Coach Smith and his wife Robin, who is a Varsity Kahok Dance Team coach live in Maryville. They have two children; Layne (5) and Holden (3).
