From The Desk of the Principal

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to Collinsville High School for the 2016-2017 school year. I am excited to build on the positive momentum our school community experienced last year. Our recent graduates set another school record for scholarship awards earned! We continuously seek to improve CHS and enhance academic opportunities for our students. For example, our staff is excited about the implementation of our 1:1 Initiative this school year. Every student and staff member has been provided a Chromebook for academic purposes. We have also been pleased with the utilization of our CHS Writing Center, which was established last school year.

In collaboration with all stakeholders, the Unit 10 School District will provide appropriate learning opportunities within a safe and caring environment. Unit 10 will develop lifelong learners who are productive and successful members of a diverse society. Unit 10 is committed to world-class excellence through a culture of acceptance, collaboration and achievement. The Kahok family offers and embraces opportunities for everyone to reach his/her fullest potential at Collinsville High School.

Our faculty will provide students with challenging academic opportunities based on students’ needs, as well as a standards-based curriculum. Our comprehensive curriculum includes college preparatory classes, vocational offerings, and elective courses. I encourage students to challenge themselves with a rigorous schedule as they prepare for their future after Collinsville High
School.

While it is imperative that students are academically engaged, I also believe students should grow socially at Collinsville High School. I strongly encourage students to get involved in clubs and activities at CHS! Life-long learning experiences can occur in and outside the classroom.

In closing, I am hopeful that each individual student will take ownership of his or her future. A positive work ethic is certainly conducive to future successes. Please feel free to contact me at 618-346-6320 or dsnider@cusd.kahoks.org if I can be of assistance. Go Kahoks!

Sincerely,

David G. Snider
