Basketball Court Rediscovered
Do you remember the L.L. Alumni Board Spotlight

The Culver-Stockton Alumni Board has 17 members; and the PawPrint will feature a different board member each month.
Name:
William L. Bass (Bill Bass)

How did Culver-Stockton help you in your career?

While coursework was important and provided me with basic knowledge in a variety of fields, I offer three specific observations of how I was helped/equipped for my life and work.

1. When I was at C-SC, a district minister for the Christian Church was located on campus, offered practical classes in ministry, and supervised service to congregations throughout the District. This involvement was the basic experience for my work in pastoral ministry.

2. My training in music at C-SC nurtured me in the development of an attention to detail that has served me well beyond the spheres of my involvement in music. Due to that characteristic I have been better able to server congregations in my current work.

3. The opportunity to closely interact with professors and adjunct staff provided me major lessons around the development and management of relationships across a variety of boundaries, including authority, expertise and age.

What's a special memory you have of your time on campus?
In November of my freshman year my father died at a young age after a short illness. There were a few of my friends from Culver that came to the funeral, but a major professor and a member of the administration came as well. It was a clear statement that Culver-Stockton cared about me as a person.

What do you enjoy about being on the alumni board?
My participation in the alumni board has allowed me to continue to be closely connected to the institution which provided a significant part of the foundation for my life and which continues that grounding for so many others.

If you or a C-SC alumnus/a you know is interested in serving on the board, please contact Gina Driscoll, alumni board president, at sgdriscoll@comcast.net for more information.
