Alumni Board Spotlight

The Culver-Stockton Alumni Board has 17 members; and the PawPrint features a different board member each month.
Julie Glover

How did Culver-tockton help you in your career?

The many leadership opportunities at Culver-Stockton as well as the close-knit community provided valuable networking opportunities that helped establish my business, Maine Photo. The relationships and business contacts that have roots in the Culver-Stockton community have helped my career as a business owner and community volunteer.
The academic foundation I received from the biology and chemistry departments provided me with the confidence and knowledge needed to run a photo processing lab. Whether it was checking specific gravity, avoiding nuton rings, regulating flow rates or hardness of water, controlling algi growth or simply understanding a chemical reaction, Culver-Stockton provided me with the tools needed to process film and develop prints. Thank you Mr. Bursewicz, Dr. Wiltshire and Dr. Brodmann.

What's a special memory you have of your time on campus?
I have many truly fond C-SC memories seen in lifetime friendships with fellow classmates, faculty, staff and alumni. Alpha Tau Omega provided a brotherhood in the men of the fraternity and their sister organization. Additional special memories include time spent with Cathy and Margie who remain the closest thing to sisters a college could provide, meeting my first love and being the first female student athletic trainer for the football team.

What do you enjoy about being on the alumni board?
Participation on the board has allowed me to remain closely connected to the institution. The board provides the opportunity to meet and get to know more alumni from many different eras and it's exciting to learn more about Culver through their memories. I enjoy keeping that "magical campus connection" fully charged for generations to come. I see serving as a spokesperson for Culver a privilege and source of joy.
If you or a C-SC alumnus/a you know is interested in serving on the board, please contact Gina Driscoll, alumni board president, at for more information.
Graduation Year/Degree:
1985 / Bachelor of Science Pysical Education / Biology
Quincy, Ill.
Hobbies / Interests:
I enjoy volunteering in my church; Trinity United Church of Christ where I am an elder. I help with the youth ministry and in the technology center for multimedia worship. I am a lifelong photographer and I enjoy collecting art. I find the sights, sounds and smells in nature relaxing. I also enjoy gardening and walnut tree farming.
I owned and operated Maine Photoprahic, a complete photofinishing lab for 17 years, I am now retired. As a business owner I was active in the Quincy Area Chamger of Commerce. I also taught Positive Living Physical Fitness for 4 years as well as aerobics for John Wood Community College for 5 years. I have been a community leader serving on multiple boards for area service agencies and not-for-profit groups. I believe volunteering is an important way to give back to the community.
