Rutland County Women's Network and Shelter - Advocate Intern - Rutland, VT - Interns will learn to work directly with victims of domestic and sexual violence providing crisis intervention, case management, and safety planning. Students may also assist with fundraising and other projects as requested. Students must be confident self-starters able to take direction and work both independently and as part of a team. Basic computer skills preferred but not required. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Agency Canvasing Intern - Looking for students interested in helping with collecting signatures from residents of certain towns by going door to door in order to put BROC’s name on the yearly town ballot in order to be voted on to receive appropriations. These appropriations supplement other funding for direct service to clients and they are fully discretionary. Intern must be someone who likes to talk with people, and training and information will be provided by BROC. This activity is preferably done in teams of two.

Rutland County Parent Child Center - Family Support Worker - Rutland, VT - Rutland County Parent Child Center is an agency that works with families with young children. Their Early Intervention program works with families with children who have special needs. Their POISE program works with young parents (or soon to be parents) with learning essential life skills to handle life’s challenges. Rutland United Neighborhoods Community Justice Center (RUNCJC)- Re-Entry Assistant/Volunteer Panel Member/Office Assistant/Volunteer Recruitment and Community Liaison - Rutland, VT - RUNCJC acts as a referral source for pre and post-charge conviction cases in Rutland County, for offenders who must attend Restorative Justice Panels, assist offenders re-entering the community post-incarceration, provides mediation services to community members and coordinates Circles of Support & Accountability for high-risk offenders. Interns will assist re-entry coordinator through direct contact with re-entry offenders; may include assistance with resume and job applications, transport to job sites for interviews, review of individualized plan of action with offender, identify goals and progress within plan objectives, offer support, objective feedback and encouragement. Become a Volunteer Panel member and actively participate in restorative Panel meetings; negotiate contracts with offenders, review and evaluate contract objectives. This position requires observation of at least 2 panel meetings prior to active engagement and availability for Tuesday evening work.

Boys and Girls Club of Rutland County - Rutland - The Boys and Girls Club is looking to offer students an opportunity at their Brandon and/or Rutland, Merchants Row Club. At both sites, there is a total of four (4) positions available for students to gain experience in classroom management, effective group dynamic skills, leading from the center of the room (instead of the front), multidisciplinary projects, scaffold learning projects, practicum learning, and various social intra/interpersonal skills. Students will be offered varied opportunities to contribute depending on time restrictions and/or mutual interest. Opportunities exist for interns to facilitate a comprehensive programming schedule, administrative duties associated with successful operations of a state licensed after school childcare program, along with individual and group supervision.
There also exist collaborative efforts in their specialized projects and programs. The Boys & Girls Club of Rutland County is proud to offer a comprehensive evidence based prevention life skills opportunities for youth 6-21. The Boys & Girls Club of Rutland County collaboratively works with community partners in Project Vision, improving Rutland community. The Boys and Girls Club does its part to minimize the harmful lingering effects of smoking, unhealthy interpersonal relationships, underage drinking, & drug abuse prevention through evidence based developmentally appropriate curriculums. An intern would be given the opportunity to co-facilitate these learning groups.

ARC - Rutland Area Advocacy for People with Disabilities - Volunteer Program Assistant - Rutland, VT - Assistant works closely with the Executive Director to guide and develop the programs of the association, primarily the Self Advocates Becoming Empowered-Rutland (SABE-R) group and the Aktion Club. Perform duties to help members attain their yearly goals. Attend all meetings, type and mail out minutes, set up agendas and other information. Attend functions/events and programs. The SABE-R and Aktion Club meet once a month, on the 2nd or 4th Tuesday of each month from 6:30 -8PM. Work with members to help them do tasks that bring them closer to their groups’ goals. The groups like to go to the State House for Disability Awareness Day and to the Green Mountain Self Advocates’ Voices and Choices Conference. From time to time, during the week, meet with the members of the groups and help them make phone calls, write letters, train for an event.Maintain a working relationship with local agencies and organization, as such connections help with receiving donations &/or the giving of our services. Increase community awareness and understanding of Developmental Disabilities through public speaking or creating press releases. Currently the SABE-R would like to create some videos for channel 15, public access TV, and do their Disability Awareness Training. The Aktion Club has many service projects they carry out throughout the year.
