About Me

"Meet Mrs. Martin"
I moved to College Station 9 years ago from the Seattle/Tacoma area where I spent most of my life. I started out a sunshine girl born in California, so it's great to be back in year-round sunshine!   The sunshine, the people, the Aggies...these are the reasons I love living in College Station!
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington.  I have a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership/Administration from Seattle Pacific University.
This is my 32nd year working in education and my ninth year as Enrichment Specialist at Oakwood.  During my career, I have also taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels. My specialty is Language Arts, but I have also taught math, health, geography, social studies, drama, and yearbook.  Prior to coming to Texas, I worked for four years as a Middle School Intervention Specialist.
As the Enrichment Specialist at Oakwood, I work with the GT students through a weekly pull-out model.  I also provide enrichment activities for all students at Oakwood through school clubs and school activities.  Students should pay special attention to the announcements for special challenge activities and contests throughout the year.  What a great experience!  What a great group of students to work with!
When I'm not in school, I love traveling, visiting friends and family, writing, reading and painting, as well as being involved in activities at my church.  I love Cannon Beach, Waikiki Beach, and Bolivar, the SEATTLE SEAHAWKS, hot tea on a cold day and cold tea (with lemon) on a hot day.  I also love bright orange, turquoise blue, lime green, pink, flowers, dark chocolate, Panera, and seeing students have "aha!" moments!
