Policies
:

The Catholic schools in the Diocese of Oakland, mindful of their mission to be witnesses to the love of Christ for all, admit students of any race, color, and national and/or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the schools. The Catholic schools in the Diocese of Oakland do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and/or ethnic origin, sex, or disability in the administration of educational policies, scholarships and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.

Candidates for admission must submit with the application a copy of the following:
1) Official Birth Certificate
2) Baptismal Certificate (if Baptized Catholic)
3) Immunization record
4) Report Card (grades 1-8)
5) $75.00 Non-refundable processing fee per child

All admission candidates desiring acceptance in Preschool, Pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten, or First Grade must meet the following age requirements:

The following priorities are applicable in accepting students for available openings:
1) Brothers or sisters of those currently enrolled
2) Practicing Catholics and alumni families
3) All others

Procedure:
1) Parents make application along with necessary forms.
2) Candidates will take a placement test. Since the school has limited means of providing for students with special needs, it is important that we evaluate our ability to meet each student’s requirements.
3) School personnel evaluate the candidate’s performance on the placement test and the information from the previous school regarding the candidate’s academic, behavioral and social progress.
4) Parents and candidates may be interviewed by the principal.
5) On the basis of all the above information, parents will be informed of the final acceptance or non-acceptance of their child to St. Peter Martyr School. Students shall be admitted to St. Peter Martyr School if they have a reasonable, well founded hope of successfully completing the school’s program, provided there is space available.

Non-refundable Registration Fee is $300.00 for one child, $450.00 for two children, $575.00 for three children, and an additional $125.00 per child for families with more than three children. This fee is to be submitted with re-registration forms in February of the current school year. Families new to the school pay upon acceptance.

There is a $150.00 Graduation Fee for all eighth grade students to be submitted by August 15, 2015.

Parent Participation Hours:  Mandatory 20 hours per family: 20 Cafeteria/School hours. If your family chooses not to complete the parent participation hours $25.00 for every hour not completed will be billed to your family (total amount -  $500.00).

“Tell A Friend”: Current St. Peter Martyr School families may earn a tuition credit of $200.00 for each new family they bring to our school. The new family must list you as the source of the referral on their application to SPM School. The credit will be issued upon the acceptance and payment of the new family’s registration fee. If more than one family is listed as a referral the $200 tuition credit will be shared equally among the names listed. 

Financial Aid/Tuition Assistance: Applications for St. Peter Martyr School tuition assistance for the 2016-2017 school year are available through the school office. FACE (Family Aid – Catholic Education) grant applications are available to families whose children are enrolled in our school (grades K-8). To be considered for FACE, tuition assistance, families will be ranked by a third party processing service, Private School Aid Service (PSAS), according to income criteria provided through the application process. Their website is www.faceofoakland.org.  BASIC Fund applications are available to families whose students will be new to our school (grades K-8). You may visit their website www.basicfund.org. If you are in need of financial assistance and your child will attend SPM School next year in grades K-8, you are encouraged to apply.
