VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

VARSITY RECAP

The first half against Willowbrook was a true test of our team's resilience. Despite three opportunities to score touchdowns in the first two possessions, we came away with zero points. Even when the Mustang Power Team was stopped at the goalline, our team refused to fold. We knew we had to kick off to the Warriors in the second half, but we were not deterred.

Our defense, led by Coen Godenschwager, Gavin Powels, and Ryker Dudley, held the Warriors in check for the 3rd Quarter.  The Mustang offense came to life with a strategic play from Dom West, hitting Keon and Cam Kasper for big completions.  The offensive line's tactical approach allowed us to pound the ball for over 200 yards on the ground.  Mick Rapinchuk's interception in the 2nd half was a result of our defensive strategy, leading to a scoring drive for the Mustangs.  Keon Maggit and Mookie Jacobs executed a brilliant play to stop the game-tying two-point conversion for the Mustangs.

The VICTORY kept the Mustangs in control for the race for the conference championship.

SOPHOMORE RECAP

The Sophomore Mustangs rolled into Willowbrook with their minds made up that they were going to be 1-0 at the end of the night to start our conference schedule. Off the bus, the Mustangs were intent on being physical and finishing plays. The Mustangs scored first and never looked back. Leading the way for the Mustangs on the ground was week 4 captain Forest Bates running hard and punching in 3 TD runs of 15, 11 & 4 Yards.  Also scoring for the Mustangs was Brady Will with a 35 yard TD reception from Vincent Junkas. The defense was stingy led by Mason Knorr who finished with 4 tackles, 3 Pressures, 1 sack and 1 fumble recovery. Also with a takeaway for the Mustangs was Jadon Dinwiddie with a fumble recovered.  The Final score was Mustangs 27 - Warriors 12.

Players of the Week:

Offense: Brady Will has been a reliable target for the offense and has been getting better each week. He scored his first TD of the season on a beautiful route for a 35 yard score. Brady has been an excellent teammate and leads by example day in and day out.

Defense: Mason Knorr, another new Mustang this season and had been getting better every week. He was all over the field against the Warriors and added some big hits to the Sack, Fumble Recovered and multiple tackles this week.

Special Teams: Cole Schwartz has been our long snapper all season and has been getting more and more locked in each week. This week he helped us on multiple special teams and also added a blocked XP on defense!

Scout/Practice/Teammate: Ryan Bartolomei has been one of the first players to jump in on any and every scout team daily at practice. He has contributed as well on defense and special teams when called upon and has been a reliable and hand-working teammate all season!

FRESHMEN A RECAP

The Mustangs put on a dominant performance in Villa Park, IL, rolling over Willowbrook with a decisive 40-0 victory. Both the offense and defense were firing on all cylinders, with the Mustangs scoring multiple times on the ground and through the air, while the defense held the Warriors scoreless.

Ryker Czubak led the charge offensively, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for another, earning him Offensive Player of the Game honors. On the defensive side, Kabreel Thomas was a force, consistently setting the edge and disrupting Willowbrook’s game plan, making him the Defensive Player of the Game.

Cam Lozano, who has been a steady contributor in practice throughout the season, came up with a huge interception and return, along with consistent play on Kickoff and Kick Return teams which earned him Special Teams Player of the Week. Meanwhile, Sam Simonetti made his presence felt with a big hit on kickoff, securing the Hit Stick Player of the Week award.

The Mustangs' all-around team effort was key to their impressive 40-0 win over Willowbrook, continuing their strong season.

FRESHMEN B RECAP

Heading into a week 4 matchup against Willowbrook, the B team began to find its groove throughout their week of practice.  After a well played game against York the week prior, we were excited to have a chance to redeem ourselves against a solid program.

On Saturday, our offense played great and scored 3 times in the first half!  Our offense was led by our QB Damen Daly, our WR Emmet Alwin, and our RB Kam Lewis.  Each player scored a touchdown and helped our team put points on the board.  Our offensive line continued to play very well and allowed us to run the ball and move defenders.

Defensively, our guys pitched a shutout and played excellent defense against Willowbrook.  Pre-snap, our defense was able to get into our correct alignments and fill their assigned gaps.  The defense was led by Chris Rice who was able to fly around in the backfield and create multiple tackles for loss.

The B team is excited to build off of this 23-0 win and head into a matchup against Morton for our Homecoming game Saturday morning.  Hit Hard!

HIT HARD - THEME OF THE WEEK

HIT HARD THEME OF THE WEEK- ACCOUNTABILITY

Our program meeting this week focused on what it means to be accountable as a student-athlete.  Accountability for a DGS football player is a fundamental principle that permeates every aspect of their athletic and academic life, shaping their character and performance. As an athlete, it means taking full responsibility for one's effort and performance, owning up to mistakes, and consistently fulfilling training commitments. Being an accountable teammate involves reliably executing one's role, upholding high standards for oneself and others, and having the courage to admit shortcomings while making amends. In relationships with coaches, accountability is demonstrated through receptiveness to feedback, diligent execution of game plans, open communication about challenges, and adherence to team rules. Among fellow players, it involves being dependable, addressing conflicts directly, supporting peers in their accountability efforts, and leading by example in taking responsibility for team outcomes. As a student-athlete, accountability extends to effective time management, taking ownership of academic performance, proactively seeking help when needed, and strictly adhering to eligibility requirements and school policies. This comprehensive approach to accountability not only enhances individual and team performance on the field but also cultivates essential life skills such as responsibility, reliability, and integrity. By embracing accountability in all these areas, a high school football player contributes to a culture of trust and excellence, preparing themselves for success both in the game and in life beyond football.
