Croydon Hills Outside School Hours Care Service Philosophy

 The educators at Croydon Hills Outside School Hours Care Service provide a flexible community based service which meets the needs of all children within a stimulating, creative, safe and secure environment, before school, after school and throughout the school holidays.

We achieve this by:

Ø  Fostering a sense of belonging for all children and families.

Ø  Providing a safe and challenging environment that fosters children’s individuality, recognises the individual needs and promotes the physical health and wellbeing of all children.

Ø  Providing a flexible, creative and age-appropriate program that responds to the care and recreational needs of all children which supports the developmental areas and encourages exploration, discovery and experimentation.

Ø  Encouraging children to make their own choices, share ideas, develop trusting relationships, and to care for and respect each other.

Ø  Acknowledging the importance of families/caregivers contributions of skills, ideas and experiences into the content of the program and encourages comments and feedback as well as encouraging parents to contribute their, quality control processes and committees.

Ø  Acknowledging and being aware of all cultural backgrounds of families/caregivers and establishing a culturally responsive service which aims at incorporating an anti-bias approach, by accepting and appreciating every child regardless of race, religion, gender or ability and utilising multicultural items and equipment into all areas of the program.

Ø  Respecting and showing consideration for staff and families’ personal values and beliefs.

Ø  The diversity of skills and experiences of staff is a key aspect that enriches the service they provide.
