In Year 5 and 6, we challenge the children in all areas of the curriculum, getting them ready for the transition to secondary school. We work on improving the children’s independence and teach them to work together as part of a team; our residential trip in Year 6 to Kingswood is a key part of this.

As it is the children’s final two years of primary school, we provide them with fantastic opportunities to learn and have fun. Our exciting activities include an artist-led watercolour  workshop, a visit from Hands on History to experience life in Tudor times, Evacuee Day and our 'famous' end of year production.

Topics we cover include:

  • The Tudors - including Henry VIII and his wives, Tudor portraits and a visit from Hands on History
  • Ghana - focusing on the village of Mankoadze, who we support through the Teabag charity
  • World War II - we look at the events of the Blitz and D-Day and experience life as an evacuee
