Now that the children are in Upper Key Stage 2, we aim to prepare them for the next challenges ahead. Children now learn to become role models whilst also taking control of their own learning through more independence. This is demonstrated in their homework by the children choosing which spellings and times tables are the most appropriate for them to learn.

We encourage hands-on learning and believe that by creating a stimulating learning environment, it enables children to engage and achieve.

We have an exciting new curriculum for 2016-17. In term 1, we will be looking at "Brilliant Biomes", where we look at different biomes around the world. In term 2, we will focus on 'Rambling Rivers' and will study the River Cuckmere in more detail. Later in the year, our fabulous Term 3 and 4 Topic will be: "Groovy Greeks’: A Tale of Ancient Greece." We will be exploring the Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Greece and life in Ancient Greece. We will delve deeply into the world of Greek theatre, the Olympic Games and hold a 'Greek Day' exploring the food and customs of Ancient and modern day Greece.

Other topics we will cover over the academic year includes the Battle of Hastings.

We will also be continuing with our learning of Spanish.
