Meet the Staff
Jerry & Janet Wemple - Owners
Jerry is our father and founder and he's still active every day as our general manager. He bought a wood stove in the mid-70's and it grew from there. Shortly after, he bought a truck load of stoves, with his wife and a few friends, and began selling them out of a small space next to a country store. He would drive with Janet and the kids to Vermont and load his pickup and trailer with stoves and bring them back to sell in Boiceville.
Eventually, the Wemples purchased the little country store they were renting from and merged the two business efforts into one. Jerry was a teacher at the local junior-senior high school at the time and his wife and girls would help run the store until school was out. He has since retired from teaching and keeps on helping the local community with thier stove and fireplace needs.
Janet is our mom and keeps the store looking comfy and cozy. She loves to visit with our thousands of existing customers and welcome new customers who are just moving into the area. She helps maintain the Country Store atmosphere of our store. And while we no longer make and serve Long Island style egg creams we still have lots of penny candy and other country gifts.
And don't make the mistake of thinking Janet and the girls can't talk stoves and fireplaces! Janet has always been involved with our stove and fireplace customers and can help those customers make better decisions about which stove or fireplace is just right for them.

The Wemples grew up on Long Island and went to college in the Catskills. After they married they both were hired as teachers in the local Onteora school district. Both Jerry and Janet are well known for thier friendly personality and welcome you to visit thier store and showroom on Route 28, in Shokan. The coffee is always on on Saturdays, so stop by for a visit.
