School Lunch Program Notice

posted Oct 17, 2013, 1:09 PM by Unknown user

The Cross Plains Independent School District participates in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program.  Children in the households receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits (formerly the Food Stamp Program) or TANF can get free meals regardless of you r income.  Your benefit letter from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is your documentation for free meals.  If you have not already received a letter from your school stating that your household is eligible for free meals, you may take your HHSC benefit letter  to the reviewing official to be certified for free meals.  If a child in your household is directly certified due to receiving SNAP or TANF benefits, all children in your household are eligible for free meals.  If you have questions, call the school at 254-725-6121 to speak to Tammie Tennison, the reviewing official.

Your children can get free or reduced price meals if your household income is within the limits on the Federal Income Chart. For an application and Income Chart, please call or come by the school offices and one will be provided to you.  Application forms will also be included in the registration packet of each enrolling student.  Only one application per household should be completed; all children in the household can be included on one form.

If you would like an application, have other questions, or need help, please call 254-725-6121.
