The Band Hall was built by the community members in 1944. The basement of the Hall is a Youth Centre, which includes a two-lane bowling alley, air hockey table, fooze-ball table, video games and pool tables. The Hall has been a popular hangout for years and many older community members remember going on dates and attend
ing events at the Hall much like today.
On February 2, 2009, Cowessess opened a coffee shop in the mini-mall. It serves coffee, tea, snacks and seniors groups meals. It is run by volunteers and has become a place where the community gathers for meetings and meals.
In order to help overcome some of the obstacles in finding financial support for on-reserve housing and other initiatives, Affinity Credit Union opened a branch at the Cowessess mini-mall on February 4, 2009. In addition to normal banking services and expertise, the 1,912 square-foot office will play an active role in supporting Cowessess partnership initiatives, educational programs and community development.
