Welcome to Pre-Algebra & Algebra 2015-2016!!

Announcements...

  • Grading and the Report Cards...
This year we are changing our grading strands to better match the common core.  As a result, you will no longer see the Concepts; Skills; and Problem Solving, Reasoning, & Communication on the report card.  Instead there will be strands such as Expressions & Equations; Algebra; Ratios & Proportional Reasoning; Functions; and Geometry, Statistics, & Probability.  Depending on the class that your student is enrolled in and what we have taught in that trimester, you may see only one or some of the strands listed above.  We are still working out some kinks in the reporting system and what the ultimate report card will look like, but we wanted parents to be aware that this is happening in your child's math class this year.  Please email if you have specific questions regarding this.

What can you expect?

  • What can you expect to find on the website?
Within this website, you can expect to find general information about the Pre-Algebra and Algebra classes.  There are a few links to rubrics and documents for the beginning of the school year - but most communication to be done with be through Google Classroom for the students and via email for the parents.

Parents - if you want to see what we are doing in class...check out the syllabus with your student, check out their recent homework/assessments/problem solvers.  I understand that many of you will feel that you are no longer able to help you kiddo out with their work, but showing them a different approach to a problem is never a bad thing.  They may like your way better than mine, and most times I have no problem with that!

If you have specific questions, please contact me directly via email - especially in relation to due dates and specific assignments.

Work & Due Date Notifications

  • Google Classroom & Syllabus...
Continuing with our structure from last year, all homework and classwork assignments will be posted on chapter syllabus on Google Classroom.  There are active links to all worksheets (once they are assigned) so that if one is lost or you need additional and I am out you can print off the *.pdf either at home or school in the library.

Some due dates (especially for problem solvers) will be posted as announcements on Classroom, others will just be on the whiteboard in class...please also check there when you walk in.
