Beginning with the 2016-2017 school year, Coventry Public Schools will join the rest of Rhode Island in offering full-day kindergarten!
This exciting expansion to a full day of learning offers social, emotional and intellectual benefits to our Coventry kindergartners. According to RI Kids Count, children in full-day kindergarten are more likely to be ready for first grade than those in half-day programs, providing more time to help them acquire critical cognitive, language, social and emotional skills.  In 2012, the RI General Assembly passed the Full-Day Kindergarten Accessibility Act (RIGL 16-99), which established a fund to help school districts with start-up costs associated with moving from half-day to full-day kindergarten.

Of course, there are financial implications and in the interest of informing all Coventry citizens about the 2016-2017 School Budget and the expansion to Full-Day Kindergarten, please use the resources on this website.  Superintendent Mike Convery is conducting two informational meetings on March 14 and March 16, 2016 and the presentation and handout distributed there are accessible here under the "Resources" tab above.
