Practice Log

Just like in other classes, you will have homework in band.  The difference is your homework is practicing your instrument!  Each week you will practice the music and skills learned in class.  Much of this time will be used to practice for your weekly playing test.  Below is a link to a Google form called Practice Log.  After you practice, take a few minutes to fill out this form to tell me about your practice session.  You will need to do this each time you practice.

Once a week, on Tuesdays, I will check your responses for a grade.  You will need to log a total of at least 100 minutes a week to get an 'A'.  When you practice, it's a good idea to plan what you're going to practice first so you get the maximum amount accomplished.

Sample 20 minute practice session:

3 minutes - Warm-up (Long tones, Flexibility, Rudiments, Scales)

5 minutes - Section 1 - Choose a small section of your music (2-8 measures) and practice specifically that part only until you can play it comfortably
three times in a row. This should be the most difficult/challenging part you need to practice.

5 minutes - Section 2 - Choose a small section of your music (2-8 measures) and practice specifically that part only until you can play it comfortably
                                    three times in a row.

5 minutes - Section 3 - Choose a small section of your music (2-8 measures) and practice specifically that part only until you can play it comfortably
                                    three times in a row.

2 minutes - Fun - Play something just for fun!  This can be anything you want it to be!  Just remind yourself "Hey! I like playing my instrument!"
