What Is Middle School Track and Field?

Track and field contains the essential elements of almost all sports, with events that feature throwing, jumping, sprinting, and running.  Our athletes compete in shotput, discus, high jump, long jump, 100M hurdles, and distances of 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, and 3000 meters. There are also 4 x 100M and 4 x 400M relays.  We are members of the Mid-Valley Coast Conference, in which we compete against schools mainly between Salem and Eugene, and from Newport to Sweet Home.  We also host the biggest and most competitive middle school track meet in the state: the Oregon Middle School Meet of Champions

Linus Pauling Track and Field is open to all students who are willing to work hard and be responsible students and citizens.  This is a no-cut sport.  There is an event for everyone in middle school track and field.  We have students who are participating in a team sport for the first time as well as athletes who will go on to be stars in the sport.  A number of our alumni have gone on to become high school state champions and college athletes.
