Have extra playground equipment lying around?  With the new spring weather, we would like to have more options for the students during break time.

Basketballs, jump ropes, you name it.   If you have anything to donate, or you come across something at the next garage sale, we would love to have it and we know the kids will appreciate it, too.

All donations can be dropped off at the school office.

 Thanks a ton!

State-wide Testing

State-wide testing is in full swing at Linus Pauling MS and will continue well into May.  Assessments are an integral part of education in our state. At their most basic level, assessments are the tools we use to collect the information we need to make decisions in everyday life. Health professionals use instruments like thermometers and x-rays to monitor the health of their patients. Scientists collect and analyze water samples to determine the quality of our streams and lakes. In education, teachers and administrators use state tests, work samples, and other forms of assessments to measure how well students are learning and determine how best to support them moving forward.

How can you support your child?

·         For starters help them get to bed the night before and power up on a good breakfast so that they are physically ready to go.

·         Talk with your children about testing…trying hard, reading carefully, taking their time, using the strategies their teachers have talked with them about so they are mentally ready to go.

·         Ask your child how they are feeling…be positive as a parent and acknowledge any anxiety, frustration, fear that your child may have around taking a test so that your child can be emotionally ready to go.

Another important area where you can support your child and the testing process is to be sure and arrange appointments for your child after school or non-testing days.

 Thank you.
