This is not an all inclusive list! Donations to not-for-profit charities, or any program or organization designated a 503(c) by the IRS can be included too. Simply bring the receipt they give you to your tax professional. If you prepare your taxes yourself, these deductions go on a Schedule A, known as itemized deductions. You do not need to send these receipts to the IRS, just keep them someplace safe for three years after you file, in case they ask.
