Welcome to the 5G mmWave Channel Model Alliance Wiki platform! This group is an international, open, collaborative research effort sponsored by The Communications Technology Research Laboratory within the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The 5G mmWave Channel Model Alliance supports the fundamental characterization of millimeter-wave channel propagation channels. This effort will support the 5G pre-standards community and make its data and research findings available in an open-source environment. This platform will allow telecommunications researchers from industry, academia, and all levels of government to exchange ideas, methodologies, and channel measurement and modeling data to help systematically characterize mmWave frequencies above 6 GHz. By leveraging expertise from across the 5G mmWave research community, this group can more accurately map the current state of the communications industry, identify current and future gaps in channel measurement and modeling, and inform decisions on where additional research will create the greatest impact.

To facilitate the formation of this Alliance, NIST convened a kick-off meeting July 8-9, 2015 at the NIST Labs in Boulder, CO. For more information on the 5G mmWave Channel Model Alliance kickoff meeting, please read the following press release:

The Alliance is divided into six collaborative working groups that include a Steering Committee; Modeling Methodology Group; Measurement Methodology Group; and groups that focus on defining and parameterizing Indoor, Outdoor, and Emerging Usage Scenarios. These groups will meet virtually several times per year and will publish the meeting times, conference call details, and research outputs on the individual working group pages located on the left sidebar. You may also visit this site to review a copy of the organizational charter, the organization's roster, schedule of events, and materials from past meetings on the Additional Resources page.
