PTA - Parent Teacher Association
The mission of the PTA is to be a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child. As an active PTA chapter, we are able to participate in many of the state and national programs that the PTA has to offer and are recognized as a not-for-profit organization 501c3.
The Cooperstown PTA works to enhance and support Cooperstown Central School at the elementary, junior, and high school level. We welcome the participation of teachers, staff, parents, and community members. We raise funds and distribute them to help benefit students. We coordinate volunteers as needed to help teachers. We produce a directory and plan events to help connect Cooperstown School families.
Please consider registering your Price Chopper Advantage card for Labels for Education & Tools for Schools. Go to www.PriceChopper.com to register your 10-digit card or at any Price Chopper store. These programs cost nothing to you and will not interfere with any other credits (gas, etc.) you are earning for other shopping promotions. The school codes are as follows: Cooperstown Elementary School (code 16756), Cooperstown Middle School (code 16755), or Cooperstown High School (code 16754). If you registered your card last year, you must re-register your card again this year, or you will not be getting the school credits.
We also need you to continue collecting boxtops and sending them in to school with your child labeled with his/her teacher’s name. At the end of the year, the teachers with the most boxtops collected get a pizza party (in the Elementary School only). The PTA also has a boxtops collection bin in the main office of the MS/HS for your convenience.
UPC codes from Labels for Education may also be collected and sent-in to be placed in the collection box @ the Elementary School in the main lobby. We get double credit when you purchase participating products @ Price Chopper with your registered Advantage Card and then collect the UPC codes and deposit them at school.
TOPS in Education: Visit www.TopsMarkets.com/Education to register your TOPS card and select Cooperstown schools. Purchase participating TOPS brand products with your TOPS card and TOPS sends earnings to Cooperstown schools.
Amazon Smile: Support NY PTA Congress 09-153 Cooperstown PTA when you shop www.smile.amazon.com . Amazon will donate .5% of every purchase to the PTA and all you have to do is designate us as your charity and shop!
If you have a Red Target Visa Card, you can register the card so that every time you use it a percentage goes to benefit our schools. Go to www.target.com to register your card today for their "Take Charge of Education" program.
PTA meetings are held at 7pm the second Tuesday of each month in the Elementary School Library. Free childcare is provided. In order to vote on funding issues, you must be a current member of the PTA. You do not need to be a voting member of the PTA to volunteer. All staff, teachers, parents, and community members are invited to join – we are always welcome to new ideas! Membership applications can be filled-out at a meeting or contact the PTA directly. Dues are $5.00 for the school year - $4.00 goes towards national and state fees and $1.00 goes to pay for the association’s insurance policy.
