Welcome to Mrs. Cannon's webpage
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions please feel free to contact me.  I am available for appointments before or after school.  This year in addition to Resource Room services,  I will also be co-teaching with Mr. Snyder in a section of U.S. History and Government 8, Mrs. Richtmeier in a section of English 8, and Ms. Eldred in one section of English 11.  Looking forward to a great year at CCS!  If you need help with school supplies, please let me know and I will make sure you have the materials you need to succeed in school.  The most important thing you will need for success is a positive attitude!

Grading Policy for Mrs. Cannon’s Resource Room

All Resource Room students are graded on a Pass/Fail basis.  Passing is dependent on effort each student puts towards meeting their individual IEP goals.  My grading policy is individualized and based on the final product and effort.  Please check out Mr. Snyder's, Ms. Eldred's and Mrs. Richtsmeier's website for grading policies as well as course syllabi

 for our co-taught sections.

After school help:

This year, after school help is available on Monday and Wednesday in conjunction with the activity bus which runs at 4 PM.  All students need to do is let me know, in advance, that they wish to stay and I will sign them up for the bus transportation home.  I am offering homework or project help, organizational help, and study skills for all students.

If you have any questions about a particular class assignment, please check out that teacher's webpage or contact the teacher directly through CCS email, teacher's first initial and last name@cooperstowncs.org.

If you want updated information on your child's progress, sign up for access to our Parent Portal in the main office at the high school.  It's quick, easy, painless and a very good thing!
STUDY SKILLS

There are many online sites to help students prepare for tests.  Here are a few of my top picks:

  • www.quizlet.com- Students can easily open their own accounts at no cost or they may use my account
username: bdcannon
password: vocab1

This a FREE site and is great for students to input their own word lists to make flashcards, play study games, and make practice tests to take online.  This is an effective study tool, nightly practice will guarantee better grades.  My account includes word lists for 8th and 11th grade English vocabulary which are listed by quiz date, and high school English vocabulary,  Global I vocabulary and study guides, Spanish 1 vocabulary and many other subjects.

  • www.ixl.com- This website offers all the various Math units and concepts at every grade level. If your child struggles with word problems, they can practice solving word problems at a lower grade level until they become confident enough to build up to their grade level material. There is a maximum 20 problems per day per computer that you can do for a free trial, but it is definitely worth the practice. Click on the link below to practice multi-step word problems:
  • www.linkstolearning.com- This website offers high school students Regents practice questions, and is broken down into the different subject areas.
  • www.castlelearning.com- This website is used by many CCS teachers.  In addition to class assignments, students can use Castle Learning to help prepare for tests, including Regents exams.  Each student is given a username(coop.lunch#) and password(students make their own) at school which can be accessed from any computer.
