Concert Dress Code:

Elementary School & Jr. High School:

Boys - black pants, white shirt, tie

Girls - black slacks or skirt, white blouse

Dress Shoes preferred

Sr. High School:

Choir - robes, dress shoes. men should wear long dark pants, men and women should wear a collarless shirt: ex: black tee shirt

Band -

Men - white tux shirt, black tux pants, black bow tie, black cummerbund, black socks, black shoes

Women - for concerts: black dress or white blouse and black slacks or skirt, black shoes; For parades: white blouse and black pants or skirt, black shoes with little to no heel

Please note that students who come to events without the required dress will not be allowed to perform. The department does have clothing we can lend the students in an emergency situation. See the instructors and we will provide the needed items.

Instrument Donations:

We are in the process of setting up an instrumental donation site for people who would like to donate a musical instrument to the school. Until the site is up .... if you have an instrument that is collecting dust at home and is in good working order - give us a call at 607-547-8181 or email Mr. Iversen, tiversen@cooperstowncs.org.

New York State Learning Standards for the The Arts

Standard 1: Creating, Performing, and Participating in the Arts

Students will actively engage in the processes that constitute creation and performance in the arts (dance, music, theatre, and visual arts) and participate in various roles in the arts.

Standard 2: Knowing and Using Arts Materials and Resources

Students will be knowledgeable about and make use of the materials and resources available for participation in the arts in various roles.

Standard 3: Responding to and Analyzing Works of Art

Students will respond critically to a variety of works in the arts, connecting the individual work to other works and to other aspects of human endeavor and thought.
