To be considered for membership, an applicant must meet the following Minimum Requirements:


If the student has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0+, the student needs at least a B or better in Research & Writing, Advanced Writing, or Scholarly Writing.


If the student has a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 – 2.99, the student needs at least an A- or better in Research & Writing, Advanced Writing, or Scholarly Writing.


If the student has a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 – 2.74, the student must have an A in Research & Writing, Advanced Writing, or Scholarly Writing.


If you are very close to meeting the above standards, you may still apply.  Your application will be considered by the Editorial Board separately to determine individual qualifications.


NOTE: Please be aware that satisfying these minimum requirements does not ensure that a prospective member will be accepted onto the Law Journal.
Students who have transferred into Cooley may still apply. They must submit an application as well as their Research and Writing (or equivalent class) final paper. This paper will be reviewed as part of the selection process.




Editor-in-Chief: A student must have been accepted as an Associate Editor, served at least one term as a member of the Board of Editors, and passed Scholarly Writing.

Managing Editor, Senior Research Editor, Senior Marketing Editor, Senior Articles Editor, and Articles Editor: A student must have been accepted as an Associate Editor and passed Scholarly Writing.

Business Editor, Senior Communications Editor, and Web Editor: A student must have been accepted as an Associate Editor.
