Who We Are

Janet Edmond
 leads the Peace and Development Partnerships Program as Senior Director. Janet promotes best practices in environmental peacebuilding based on principles grounded in the rights-based approach (RBA) and social safeguards within the Center for Environment and Peace ('the Policy Center').  She provides leadership, technical assistance and capacity building for the Policy Center, other CI Divisions and programs and for external partners on environmental peacebuilding, partnership building with development NGOs and other social dimensions of conservation. She serves as a CI representative for partners and donors such as academic institutions, think tanks the UN, IUCN, and USAID. 

Colleen Sorto
, the Senior Manager for Development Partnerships, cultivates institutional partnerships with humanitarian relief and development organizations. She also provides program management support for CI’s Peace agenda, fundraises for pilot projects and core resources and partnership initiatives, and serves as a link between the different facets of these programs. Colleen works in close collaboration with other CI units and external partners to ensure achievement of PDP strategic objectives. She also represents CI internally and externally, building sound partnerships for the institution. 


Lydia Cardona
is the Coordinator for the Peace and Development Partnerships team at Conservation International, where she joined in January 2017. In her role she supports the development of educational tools on environmental peacebuilding and conflict analysis that seek to build staff capacity in mitigating conflict and enabling peace through their work.
