Presenter Bios

Suanne has taught in public and private schools in the United States and in international schools throughout Asia.  A former K-8 Literacy Coach, Suanne has a passion for working with teachers and students in Reader's and Writer's Workshop. Reflective practices and personal growth are at the center of all learning. Suanne works with teachers to help them make workshop their own, adapting it to fit the needs of their individual students. Currently, Suanne is the Curriculum Leader at Hong Kong International School where she works with teachers to align curriculum, design units, and supports work around assessment practices.

MaryAnn has taught in the United States in urban and suburban schools and has been teaching internationally for the last 8 years.  Her journey in literacy has taken her to schools all throughout Europe collaborating with international schools, educators and coaches.  The work she does in literacy was initially inspired by Ralph Fletcher and the writing workshop. Her heart is in the workshop and through research, practice, consultants and working with other teachers has grown into making inquiry an integral part of literary practices.  She is currently a Literacy Coach at Hong Kong International School. The work she does with teachers now revolves around building curriculum, bolstering the workshop and coaching teachers in developing inquiry practices.
