National Merit Program Scholarship Winner– Marissa Kaye Lehner
In October 2015 approximately 1.6 million students participated in the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
In September 2016, 50,000 of the 1.6 million students qualified as high scorers in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. 34,000 of the 50,000 high scorers were recognized as Commended Students and only 16,000 of the 1.6 million qualified as Semifinalists.
In February 2017, 15, 000 of the Semifinalists were notified that they had advanced to Finalist standing. Of these 15, 000 Finalists, 7,500 (only .5% of the originally 1.6 million students) will be selected to receive a Merit Scholarship between March and June. A variety of information is utilized to evaluate the finalists including: the Finalist’s academic record, information about the school’s curricula and grading system, two sets of test scores, the high school official’s written recommendation, information about the student’s activities and leadership, and the Finalist’s essay.
We are honored to announce that Marissa Kaye Lehner has been selected as a winner of a National Merit Scholarship.
PSAT scores are now available on your College Board account. If you do not have a College Board account, paper copies of scores reports will be mailed to the high school in late December - early January. These paper reports will then be distributed to students through the mail.
