SECIA Ramps up Rain Garden Programs for 2009

posted Feb 23, 2009, 10:02 AM by Stephanie Hankerson

Last summer, SE Como residents signed on for training, design help and cost reimbursement to have a rain garden installed on their property. Rain gardens divert stormwater from our roofs and driveways to a swale-shaped garden. We are encouraging folks to do some wintertime garden dreaming as we look to offer even more rain garden support in 2009. Assistance will now include University of Minnesota Service Learners who could be assigned to your property to help sketch and install your garden, as well as new grant funds to further reimburse your expenses! This program is part of SECIA's Como Green Village work sponsored by McKnight, the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization and Metro Blooms.
