Humanities and Social Sciences Learning Area

The Society and Environment Department at Comet Bay College prepare students for the real-life challenges they will face in the wider community and later in life. Students are engaged across several topic areas that give them an understanding not only of Australian society and culture but also a knowledge of the Global community we are a part of. As such students learn about Australian and World History, Geography, Politics, Psychology and Economics. The study of Society and Environment  emphasizes the ways in which people interact and engage with the environment and other people.

In years 7, 8, 9 and 10, students will examine four areas of study, outlined above, developing an understanding of the conceptual and process outcomes embedded in the Learning Area.

During Semester One and Semester Two, all Society and Environment students will sit an examination that will form part of their overall mark for their report at the end of each Semester.
