Columbia County Civil Service offers exams for the public as well as promotional exams for existing employees. If you have any questions concerning any of the exams listed on this website please contact Civil Service directly at (518) 828-6622, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm.
To apply for an examination you must complete an Application for Examination or Employment and return to Civil Service with the required filing fee. Please be sure you have both pages of the application.
You must fill out the application for employment (found in the menu on the left) and file it with the Civil Service Department for the exam you would like to take.
Please be aware that our location has changed.
The Civil Service Office and Human Resources Department no longer share the same office space. Our office is still on the 3rd floor but we are now located in, Room 2C, at 401 State Street. Anyone needing assistance and unable to come to the 3rd floor should utilize the phone in the entrance and dial the following extensions for assistance:
Exam announcements will continue to be posted on the 1st and 3rd floors of 401 State Street, Hudson, NY 12534.
Personal Checks are no longer accepted for the filing fee.
Cell phones and any form of communication devices are PROHIBITED from the exam site on the day of testing.
Regular Meetings of the Columbia County Civil Service Commission are held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month, at 10:00 a.m., in the Committee Room at 401 State Street, Hudson, NY 12534
