Mathis is an international student from Germany who graduated from the Goethe University, Frankfurt. before joining the Nuclear Theory Group at CU-Boulder. Currently, his research focuses on relativistic hydrodynamics and its application to the quark--gluon plasma, a new state of matter found at the experiments conducted at CERN, Switzerland and RHIC, New York. Besides physics, he is also interested in the philosophy of language and how this influences sciences in general.
